For free games, in-app purchases are now the norm. This is plainly obvious when the game deliberately withholds information or annoys you in order to force you to spend money on “power-ups.” There appears to be a catch to playing free games in that they will use any method necessary to get you to pay, often for amounts that are several times higher than what you would pay for the game if you bought it outright.
