TranslaDocs: Trick - photos of the documents to order a sworn translation
Is a photo of a document worth enough to get it translated and sworn? And to get a sworn translation quote? We have updated this article to save time and effort.
Yes, a photograph can be used, since it is an image, like a scanner image. The important thing is that they are well taken photos. Whether they are taken with a good device or with the camera of a cell phone, the key points are that you have good light and that the corners of the photo coincide, no more and no less, with those of the document.
We develop all the elements, so that you can make it perfect:
Position of the camera lens: The camera or cell phone lens should not be tilted with respect to the paper, but should be directly in front of it. Normally this means that the imaginary line from the lens to the paper should be perpendicular to the paper and the camera.
Document framing: The margins of the photo should coincide as much as possible with the limits of the document, as far as possible, but without hiding it, so that a table, the floor or wherever the photo is taken does not appear and the content of the document is not lost. Of course, the document must be flat, not folded or wrinkled. You can help by placing a glass on top or books at the ends.
Angle and width of the document photo
Quality: The camera used to take the photo must have at least 2 megapixels. This is very easy nowadays.
Sharpness: The image should not be blurred, but in focus. Most of the small lenses of cell phones focus on almost everything in the photo, so this should not be a problem. In the case of cameras, compact or SLR, autofocus should be sufficient.
Lighting: Most of the above also depends on lighting. The ideal is sunlight, such as that coming through the window, whether it is direct sunlight or indirect light. If you use artificial light, look for the most homogeneous (filtered) and powerful light you have.
In previous articles we have already talked about the formats in which a document can be sent, so we encourage you to consult them.
If the text of these images is legible, you can certainly prepare a quotation for the translation of the document. In case they do not have the necessary resolution, we would ask you for the scanned documents. Of course, we will ask you to scan them properly, for the sake of your translation.
