Gary Layrock was born and raised in Memphis; TN. Gary has been a fan of martial arts since childhood which led to his studying martial arts in high school. After serving in the United States Army for seven years he was Honorably Discharged and rediscovered his love for martial arts. Gary is a first-degree black belt and has won several tournaments. Gary wanted to channel his love for martial arts and his personal mission to counteract the negative stereotypes of the African American family unit into something that would appeal to all audiences which led to the creation of Layroc Visions.
