White marble is today one of the most sought after natural stones by architects, designers and of course by end users. Special for interior and especially for kitchen and vanity top. There are different types of white and white rocks (igneous, metamorphic or sedimentary). In this article, we will focus on “real marble”. In other words, Marble by geography and business (1). And especially, White Marble. (1) In our post “How to choose the type of marble or natural stone for your home” we show the difference between the business and the floor of marble.

Therefore, everything described later has the following features in common:

They are Metamorphic rocks, with a calcareous composition and varying amounts of dolomite. Their white matrix can vary in color tone (with gray or cream tones) depending on the composition of the stone.
The shape, width and color of its veins (if any), and the presence of other minerals and their composition will define the final appearance of each and help to distinguish between others. They will not have fossils.

1. WHITE THASSOS OR BIANCO THASSOS MARBLE

The name of this white marble comes from the Greek island of Thassos, where it has been sourced since ancient times.
White Thassos is a pure dolomitic marble, with a special white color, small grains and almost no veins, mainly in Extra or Superior (2)

(2) Speaking of white marble, its quality depends on the purity of its color. That is, it will depend more on their aesthetic appearance than on its physico-mechanical properties. Thus, the lower the presence of impurities, the higher the degree of whiteness and, normally, the higher the price of marble. When it comes to Thassos white marble, the smaller the grain size, the higher the quality of the stone.
